Lets read the news...

Another Earthquake in Iran

It might be a good idea to read this news report about yet another earthquake in Iran just today. One eyewitness report tells of the tremors felt in Doha, Qatar but we didn't feel them in Al Khor!

Rock Cycle Rap...

it really rocks!

Also if you remember we have used this website before - these are all about ROCKS!

NEW 5 Sentence Challenge

Over on 100 Word Challenge they are looking at a picture provided by Springboard Stories. Do visit the site as they have a free e-book available! It is a picture of Marcus who has found himself on the Moon! That sounds like great fun so your prompt is:
In Space
You can write about anything you like that is connected to space in some way. I can’t wait to read your sentences because I just know you will have all sorts of ideas!
The link will stay open until 24th April so you have lots of time to get your thoughts together.

Reading Eggspress!

I have registered you to take part in an exciting activity to get you to read more and more! You will receive your individual log-ins today so that you can start tonight.

I am also sending home the following information leaflet for mums and dads!

There is nothing better than a good book!

Practise your parts of speech!

A really cool game to practise and reinforce your knowledge of parts of speech - nouns; verbs; adjectives; adverbs etc etc.

Earthquake in Iran today!

Quite scary - I was teaching my year 5 class in Milan, Italy last year when our classroom shook as a result of an earthquake over 150kms away. Today there has been an earthquake in Iran and news reports say that 'aftershocks' were felt in Qatar.

Newspaper Report on Iran Earthquake

We are going to be learning about Earthquakes and Volcanoes in topic in term 3 as well as Journalistic writing in Literacy - might be a good idea to read this news report!

Homework- Term 3

Let's get ready for Term 3 - your final term in Year 4 - in 12 weeks time you will be in your last week downstairs in Year 4 and very soon will move to the first floor to Year 5 - that is so scary not just for you but for me as well because it only seems a very short time ago when you were just coming into Year 4!

HOMEWORK

Sunday     -    spellings - you have to learn your spellings in preparation for your dictation on the following Sunday. You also have to write a sentence for each word on the back of your Look, Cover, Write, Check sheet. For those of you on RWi spellings (Mrs Yoosuf's group) you have to do your spelling work in your booklet and learn your key words for your test on a Sunday.

Monday    -    Maths - you topics for Mathletics will be re-set and you will receive your written maths homework which is linked to your learning this week. Remember you have to achieve a minimum of 1000 points on Live Mathletics.

Tuesday    -    Comprehension - you will get your comprehension in class to complete at home.

Wednesday   -    Science or Topic  - It really depends on what we are learning about!

Homework this term needs to be handed in on time and completed therefore I will be looking at Golden Time at the end of the school year. You will earn 1 minute for each piece of homework completed and handed in on time. By the end of the term you could have almost 50 minutes of Golden Time - if you do not hand it in - oh dear no Golden Time!

Lets get reading!

Dear Year 4P Parents,

Just wanted to share this information with you about an event that I hope to get the class involved in. In the meantime there is a free trial if you wish to register. Please click on the following link.
